There are three versions of Gemma, depending on your system configuration:
A) Gemma MagiC/NatFrame for MagiC at 32,000 colors or 16.7 Mio. colors
This is the full colorshaded blue and grey Gemma version:
You also need the additional system extension NatFrame (by Nature), which can be downloaded for free:
Put the NatFrame files WINFRAME.RSC
and WINFRAME.SLB
into the directory C:\GEMSYS\MAGIC\XTENSION\
(replacing the original files) and add the content of the folder NATTHEME
, which means the file WINFRAME.INF
and the folder THEMES
.
After the next reboot you will see the blue shaded Gemma windows.
B) Gemma MagiC/256 for MagiC at 256 or less colors
Using a 256 color screen depth you have the choice to use the NatFrame version as described under A) or to use the visually simpler MagiC/256-winframe. The disadvantage of using the NatFrame version is that it appears dithered at 256 colors but it may nevertheless be judged as more attractive than the normal winframe.
Using less than 256 colors you have no choice but to use the simplified normal winframe.
Copy the file WINFRAME.RSC
into the directory C:\GEMSYS\MAGIC\XTENSION\
after you have renamed the original file.
The grey Gemma winframe becomes active after the next reboot.
A more appealing alternative to Gemma at 256 or less colors is the Winframe Rund farbe by Pink Panther Produktion.
C) Gemma N.AES/256 for N.AES at all color depths
Gemma N.AES/256 is a simplified version for N.AES, because the additional software NatFrame, which is used by the full version, is not yet available for N.AES. So you have to use a simplified winframe GEMMA_NA.RSC
without colorshades. It is suitable for all color depths.
